LEGOLAND® Malaysia, one of the world’s newer LEGOLAND® complexes has announced it will be building the world’s largest yet LEGO® Millennium Falcon for this upcoming world Star Wars day on May the 4th.
It is said that the design will be even bigger than the one built in Sydney last year for Star Wars day 2015. The previous smuggler’s vessel comprised roughly 250,000 individual LEGO® bricks and measured 16 feet wide. This was a particularly remarkable achievement given that LEGO® sets are generally far easier to build when they are tall rather than when they are wide, due to the nature of the LEGO® brick.
Father and son LEGO® master builders Dan and Chris Steininger were responsible for the build last year and for this year’s upcoming project. The plan is to unveil the structure on the eve of May the fourth and showcase the design in LEGOLAND Malaysia until the end of May. During this time visitors to the theme park will receive their own smaller version of the inimitable ship originally featured in the first Star Wars film.
